Out

Out of minds;
Both yours
and mine

A sigh recalls
A breath
reminds

That though now apart
Once was
entwined

Face forever's farewell
Till end
of time

To Boredom

I walk to ease my boredom;
the repetitive steps
blur the repetitive days.

Step

Every word; every step;
every repeating
minute detail
of everyday.

Step

And the repetitive words
get me through the repetitive days
to wake once more
to boredom.

Steal as a Grave

And you are lost forever;
No turning back for you.
No turning back;
No turning.
No nothing;
No you.

Just glass
and silence.
Just wood
and stillness.
Just earth;
shit happens.

It just happened to you.

Lights

I tried to flash you
with my headlights;
High beams, low.

But you,
you were stupid;
Stupidly stubborn.

So I tried to pump
my brake-lights of
red desperation.

You were still breathing
in my rearview mirror
as I bathed you
with my parking lights
and darkness.

Story Time

And he said
“Gather around children,
seat before me
by the fire place.

Make yourselves comfortable
as I kick you in the face”

“Kick the baby”
he shouted
as he unleashed;
leg connecting
to smiling child,
to smiling child.

One flew far;
far far away.
Flying! Flying;
never wanting to wake up.

Wake up my child!
Wake up!
You are in a coma,
please wake up!

But that one flew far;
far far away.
Flying! Flying;
never wanting to wake up.

One other child went blam.
“BLAM!”
as pain exploded
and slowly vanished
tearing flesh
revealing not so pearly whites.

Eyes half closed;
seeing little,
hearing ringing.
BLAM!
That other child was dead.

In Right Light

It’s six hours
twenty two minutes
and an odd number of seconds after midnight

that I stare
out the open window;

past the criss-cross of thread-like shadows,

and I realize

that green can be blue sometimes
and leaves can be birds

when the light is right.

Waiting

I hold an hourglass
between two fingers

And watch as ash
are birthed from ember

As sand slowly pass
and reach the filter

I flick the butt as
I light another

Blinded

A heartbeat breaks the silence;
a pulse,
a drop,
sends ripples on the dark water.

Black.
Darker than black.
Darkness
for one who has never known light.

A pulse ripples.
